Sting Drop Firebirds, 2-1
|
The Seattle Sting found a way to sneak past the Phoenix Firebirds, 2-1, in 12 innings. Seattle pitcher Corbin Burnes, for one, had a standout performance. Seattle, at 27-24, is 2 games up in the Union League Western Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Johnathan Rodriguez? The 25-year old right fielder Rodriguez stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put Seattle up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"I was a little disappointed," said Phoenix manager Pat McGoldrick. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
