Montreal Dealt 10-6 Defeat
|
The Cincinnati Stars beat the Montreal PoorBoys, 10-6, at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati shortstop Marcus Betts led the way. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Sean Manaea, the winning pitcher, is now 4-4. He went 5 innings, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 3. With the win, Cincinnati has a record of 21-30. Montreal falls to 23-28.
Pete Crow-Armstrong had a big 2-run double for the Stars in the bottom of the first inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Musgrove and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stars ahead, 4-0.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Cincinnati manager Pat Padula.
