Bandits Capture Close Win
|
The Tampa Bay Bandits defeated the Boston Minutemen, 5-4. Left Fielder Lars Nootbaar deserved a large share of the credit. Nootbaar hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Bandits. Tampa Bay reliever Ryan Pressly was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Drew Rasmussen took the loss. With the win over Boston, the Bandits improved to 33-22.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Tampa Bay trailing 4-3, Nootbaar jumped on a sinker from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Drew Rasmussen and hit a 2-run home run to right-center. With one swing, the Bandits had a walk-off win.
"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Nootbaar said in his postgame press conference.
