Hogs Come Back Late to Clip Bulldogs
|
The home squad pulled out a thrilling walk-off win.
Toronto left fielder Evan Carter was a significant contributor in his team's 11-10 triumph over the Georgia Bulldogs. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Hogs. Jordan Hicks picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Jorge Lopez suffered the loss.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 33-year old left fielder Christian Yelich had a chance to be the hero. Georgia pitcher Jorge Lopez wanted to foil that plan. But with two outs, Yelich reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 2 runs. The Hogs had themselves a thrilling win.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Hogs manager Anthony Cepparulo. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
Toronto is now 28-31, Georgia 24-35.
