Riptides fans were sent into a frenzy with a walk-off win.

The Chicago Explorers got a superb performance from left fielder J.D. Martinez, but the Carolina Riptides still won the game, 9-8. Martinez was 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 doubles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Carolina reliever Jordan Romano picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Albert Abreu took the loss.

Addison Barger was the walk-off hero for Carolina. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Riptides first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Carolina skipper Rob Hansen.

The win puts Carolina at 33-28 this season.
