Vipers Topple Millers, 8-7, as Harper Shines
|
With right fielder Bryce Harper leading the charge, the Texas Vipers defeated the Minnesota Millers, 8-7, at Pepsi Dome. Harper, who is tied for 2nd in the UL with a 1.084 OPS, went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The winning pitcher was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Reese Olson. He tossed 97 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Joe Mantiply was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Colt Keith, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Vipers organization, chipped in a 2-run home run for Texas in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Keith.
The loss makes Minnesota 33-31.
