Sharks Earn 5-4 Win Versus Explorers
|
The New York Sharks beat the Chicago Explorers, 5-4. New York pitcher and The United States, native Tanner Houck led the way. New York reliever Aroldis Chapman picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jeremiah Estrada was saddled with the loss. Blake Treinen finished the game for New York and earned his 16th save.
Kyle Higashioka came through with a big-time hit for New York. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Higashioka told the New York Chronicle.
By defeating Chicago, the third-place Sharks improved to 32-34.
