Riptides Win, 6-4, Versus Detroit
|
The Carolina Riptides defeated the Detroit Demons, 6-4, in part because of right fielder Juan Soto. Soto went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Riptides. Carolina pitcher Pierce Johnson got the win, upping his record to 1-2. Josh Winckowski got the loss. Dedniel Nunez, credited with the save, is now 5 for 6 in save opportunities.
Carolina took a 6-4 lead on Steward Berroa's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Berroa hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Detroit pitcher Josh Winckowski visibly frustrated.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Soto.
Carolina goes to 35-33, Detroit to 35-33.
