Tampa Bay Roughed Up By Jaguars
|
The 9-2 Portland win over Tampa Bay was due largely to Alex Bregman. The Jaguars third baseman was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a double, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Kyle Leahy. His record now stands at 3-1. The right-hander went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits for the Jaguars. The defeat makes Tampa Bay 42-27.
Portland used a clutch at-bat from Spencer Torkelson to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Jaguars ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager George Hoffman.
