Cincinnati Absorbs 5-3 Loss to Seattle
|
The Seattle Sting knocked off the Cincinnati Stars, 5-3, in Union League action at Great American Ball Park. Seattle pitcher and Henderson, Nevada, native Ryne Nelson had an outstanding performance. Nelson got the win, improving to 9-2. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The Union League Western Division-leading Sting have a record of 38-31.
Seattle used the hitting of Pete Alonso to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sting on top, 3-1. For the game, Alonso had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Alonso said.
