Bandits Popped by Ironmen, 7-2
|
Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Pittsburgh Ironmen defeated the Tampa Bay Bandits, 7-2, in Union League action at PNC Park. Jesse Winker pulled his weight. The 10-year veteran was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Picking up the win was Griffin Canning. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. The right--hander struck out 11 and walked 1.
Early in the game, Winker had a 2-run home run for Pittsburgh. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Ironmen on top, 2-0.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Winker.
Pittsburgh leads the Union League Eastern Division by 3½ games.
