Firebirds Walk It Off for 43rd Win of Season
|
Though he had a stellar game, Rhys Hoskins could not prevent his team, the Washington Hitmen, from losing, 7-5, to the Phoenix Firebirds. Hoskins was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Phoenix reliever Aaron Bummer picked up the win, raising his record to 7-2. Keegan Akin was tagged with the loss. Phoenix has now won 3 in a row.
The decisive blow was delivered by Fernando Tatis Jr. in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a grand slam home run off 30-year old left-handed pitcher Keegan Akin to win the game for Phoenix. The home crowd went nuts.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Tatis Jr..
