Hitmen Suffer One-Run Loss at Detroit
|
The Washington Hitmen were defeated, 2-1, by the Detroit Demons at Detroit Park, even though Luis Garcia pitched well for Washington. Detroit reliever Joey Wentz was the winner. His record is now 7-2. Luis Garcia took the loss. The loss makes Washington 35-39.
Ezequiel Duran had a big run-scoring double for the Demons in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a curveball from Nic Enright, who finished 4th in the FL in saves with 31 last year, and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Demons ahead, 2-0.
Duran called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
