Toronto shortstop Elly De La Cruz helped his team beat the Tampa Bay Bandits, 10-2. De La Cruz, who leads the UL in triples with 7, went 4 for 5 for the Hogs. Luis Ortiz was the winner. He's now 6-4. The loser was Jacob Degrom. The Hogs now have a record of 36-39 with the win over Tampa Bay.
Evan Carter had a big run-scoring double for the Hogs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Toronto leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Jacob Degrom, who led the UL in strikeouts with 247 in 2017, and swatted a double to center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hogs ahead, 3-1.
"We hit the ball hard," said Toronto manager Anthony Cepparulo. "Line drive after line drive."
