Millers Score Late to Beat Spirit, 2-1
|
The Minnesota Millers converted a terrific effort from starter Sandy Alcantara into a win over the Los Angeles Spirit at Target Field. The Millers won the game by a final score of 2-1. Minnesota reliever Dylan Lee was the winner. His record is now 3-1. Tom Cosgrove took the loss. With the win, Minnesota upped its record to 40-35.
Mike Zunino was the walk-off hero for Minnesota. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Millers designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Sandy is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Minnesota manager Pierre Duschesnau.
