Toronto Downed, 5-3, by Phalanx
|
Sony Park was the site of a competitive game between the Toronto Hogs and Philadelphia Phalanx.
The Philadelphia Phalanx knocked off the Toronto Hogs, 5-3, in Federal League action at Sony Park. Philadelphia pitcher and West Palm Beach, Florida, native Logan Allen had an outstanding performance. Philadelphia reliever Derek Law picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. John King took the loss. Tanner Scott, credited with the save, is now 15 for 17 in save opportunities.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Romy Gonzalez came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Toronto pitcher John King, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Philadelphia on top, 4-3.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager Stephen Esterhazy.
After today's action, Philadelphia sits at 38-39, while Toronto falls to 36-41.
