Millers 8-3 Victors Over Tampa Bay
|
The Minnesota Millers picked up a win at Tony Gwynn Memorial Field, knocking off the Tampa Bay Bandits, 8-3. Starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara played a key role in the triumph. Alcantara got the win, improving to 8-3. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The Bandits, at 47-33, have lost 4 straight games.
Minnesota left fielder Michael Conforto delivered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. Overall, he went 3 for 5, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and knocked in 3.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Alcantara. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
