Hitmen Pull Out Late-Game Win, 4-3
|
Washington and Bronx duked it out and the Hitmen came out victorious.
The Washington Hitmen defeated the Bronx Bombers, 4-3, at RFK Stadium. Leading the charge for Washington was catcher William Contreras. He was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Washington reliever Chase Lee picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Cole Sands took the loss.
Had Keston Hiura not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Hiura hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Hitmen.
"Both teams played hard," said Washington manager John Anderson.
The Bombers, now 39-46, have lost 5 in a row.
