Firebirds Reel Off Another Win
|
Phoenix pitcher Spencer Turnbull had a large part in his team beating the Boston Minutemen, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Edwin Diaz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 24 save opportunities. The Firebirds, now 51-34, have won 6 in a row.
Sean Murphy had a big solo home run for the Firebirds in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Phoenix leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from Kyle Bradish, who is tied for 5th in the FL in innings pitched with 103.1, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Firebirds on top, 4-2.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Phoenix manager Pat McGoldrick.
