Firebirds Get Past Boston for 6-5 Win
|
The Phoenix Firebirds beat the Boston Minutemen, 6-5, in part because of second baseman Zack Gelof. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Phoenix reliever Edwin Diaz picked up the win, raising his record to 2-4. Drew Rasmussen was tagged with the loss. The win elevated the Firebirds to 52-35.
Joey Gallo was the walk-off hero for Phoenix. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Firebirds left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Gallo said.
