Carolina designated hitter Brett Baty was instrumental in helping the Riptides triumph, 9-4, over the Montreal PoorBoys. Baty was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. With the win, Carolina has a record of 46-41. Montreal falls to 40-47.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Riptides grabbed the lead when Baty hit his 8th double of the season. The run-scoring double off Ken Waldichuk made it 3-2, Carolina.
