Chicago Tacks 4-3 Loss on Washington
|
Aaron Civale propelled his team to victory over the Washington Hitmen. The final score was 4-3, Chicago. Civale, now 7-6, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Anthony Misiewicz was credited with the save, his 2nd in 5 tries.
Jesus Sanchez had a big 3-run home run for the Explorers in the bottom of the first inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a slider from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Garcia and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Explorers on top, 4-0.
Washington manager John Anderson said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
With the win, the Explorers sit at 47-42.
