New York Slaps 5-4 Loss on Baltimore
|
Fans watched the New York Sharks and the Baltimore Wildcats fight to the finish.
In a close game at Toyota Field, the New York Sharks edged the Baltimore Wildcats, 5-4. New York first baseman Buddy Kennedy stood apart with his performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Will Warren. His record now stands at 4-2. The right-hander went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits for the Sharks.
Matt Wallner had a big 2-run home run for the Sharks in the top of the fifth inning. With New York leading 3-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Sharks on top, 5-0.
"Feels good to get the job done," Kennedy said after the game.
With the win, New York has a record of 43-47. Baltimore falls to 38-52.
