Jordan Montgomery, who finished 2nd in the UL in wins with 15 last year, was terrific for the Carolina Riptides in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Houston Titans. His performance earned Montgomery rave reviews. The winning pitcher was Montgomery, now 6-6. He tossed 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 7. Carolina now sits at 47-44, while Houston falls to 55-36.

The Riptides got a big at-bat from left fielder Kody Clemens. For the game, Clemens was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Carolina a 2-0 lead.

Montgomery said his team "played with focus."
