Isbel Swings Wildcats to 7-6 Win
|
The Baltimore Wildcats used the hitting of center fielder Kyle Isbel to subdue the Washington Hitmen, 7-6. For the game, Isbel was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was reigning CBA Cy Young winner Zack Wheeler. He tossed 98 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. Paul Sewald got the save, his 17th in 21 chances.
With Baltimore leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Isbel hit a curveball from Yoshinobu Yamamoto for a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Wildcats ahead, 6-0.
"We got the victory," said Isbel. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Baltimore is now 39-53, while Washington is 43-49.
