New York Sends Carolina Packing with 5-3 Loss
|
New York pitcher Mitch Keller did his part in helping his team beat the Carolina Riptides, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Keller picked up the win for New York, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-10. Robert Stephenson, credited with the save, is now 1 for 2 in save opportunities.
New York used a clutch at-bat from Blake Perkins to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sharks ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Keller told a New York Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
New York now sits at 39-53, while Carolina falls to 51-41.
