Riptides Roll to 8-1 Win Over Sharks
|
A good performance from right fielder Wilyer Abreu helped the Carolina Riptides defeat the New York Sharks, 8-1. Abreu went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles for the Riptides. After today's action, Carolina sits at 52-41; New York slips to 39-54.
Addison Barger had a big 2-run double for the Riptides in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Carolina leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from Tanner Houck, who is tied for 3rd in the UL in quality starts with 12, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Riptides ahead, 5-1.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Nick Ruport.
