Carolina Sent Home with 1-0 Loss
The Pittsburgh Ironmen knocked off the Carolina Riptides, 1-0, in Union League action at PNC Park. Pittsburgh pitcher and Mercer, Pennsylvania, native Matthew Boyd had an outstanding performance. David Robertson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 26 save opportunities. The triumph puts Pittsburgh at 49-45 for the season.

Pittsburgh pinch hitter Miguel Vargas helped the Ironmen go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Vargas hit a run-scoring single off Carolina pitcher Lucas Luetge.

Pittsburgh manager Ryan Morneau commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
