The Portland Jaguars picked up a win at IBM Field, downing the Carolina Riptides, 6-4. On the mound for Portland was left-hander Ranger Suarez, who played a pivotal role in the win. Suarez, now 7-10, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 4 runs. Portland now has a record of 52-45 with the win.

Portland designated hitter Yordan Alvarez contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 119th hit of the season and put the Jaguars ahead, 3-1.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Alvarez said.
