With right fielder Bryce Harper leading the charge, the Texas Vipers defeated the Carolina Riptides, 9-2, at IBM Field. Harper, who led the FL in OPS with 1.159 in 2016, was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Chris Bassitt picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 3-5.
