Minutemen Deal Seattle 5-2 Defeat
|
The Boston Minutemen withstood an impressive performance by Seattle catcher Max Stassi to defeat the Sting, 5-2, at Fenway Park. Stassi went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Matt Moore in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Gavin Williams took the loss. Drew Rasmussen was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 25 save opportunities.
The Minutemen got a big at-bat from first baseman Kris Bryant. For the game, Bryant was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Boston a 3-0 lead.
Boston manager Tony Byrne praised his team's "businesslike approach."
The victory gives Boston a record of 52-46.
