The New York Sharks trumped the Cincinnati Stars, 9-3, at Shark Stadium. New York left fielder Jake McCarthy was terrific. He went 2 for 4 with a triple and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was German Marquez. He tossed 77 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. Luke Little notched his 4th save in 5 chances.

With New York trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, McCarthy hit a fastball from Tyler Wells for a bases-clearing triple. It was his 5th triple of the season and put the Sharks ahead, 3-1.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said McCarthy.

New York now has a record of 50-46 with the win.
