Hitmen 4-3 Winners Versus Oakland
|
The Washington Hitmen picked up a win at Fan's Ballyard, knocking off the Oakland Roses, 4-3. Starting pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson was a big reason why. Woods Richardson, now 6-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Ian Hamilton got the save, his 23rd in 24 chances.
Washington won the game in part because of Keston Hiura. The first baseman ripped a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Hitmen ahead, 4-1. For the game, Hiura had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
Oakland manager Herb Pilgrim said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The second-place Roses have lost 4 consecutive games.
