Jaguars Outmuscle Baltimore, 10-8
|
The Portland Jaguars had to overcome a big game from Baltimore right fielder Luke Raley to leave Toyota Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 10-8. Raley went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Tanner Gordon got the win, improving to 9-0. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Trevor Gott, credited with the save, is now 3 for 7 in save opportunities.
The Jaguars benefited from an error in the top of the first inning. Portland was leading 1-0 when Max Kepler hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Portland in front, 3-0.
"If you were looking for a pitchers' duel," said Kepler, "this wasn't it."
The last-place Wildcats have lost 5 consecutive games.
