Portland Beaten, 4-1, by Carolina
|
Carolina Riptides pitcher Jordan Montgomery was in top form, leading his team past the Portland Jaguars, 4-1. Matt Brash, who finished 3rd in the UL in saves with 33 last year, was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-2. The losing pitcher was Brooks Raley. Dedniel Nunez got the save, his 12th in 15 chances.
Carolina took a 4-1 lead on Ryan McMahon's 20th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which McMahon hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Portland pitcher Trevor Gott visibly frustrated.
"It never gets old," said McMahon. "Winning, that is."
The victory gives Carolina a record of 54-49.
