Roses Lose, 9-5, at Petco Park
|
The San Diego Snakeyes overcame a pretty good performance by Oakland first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, beating the Roses, 9-5, at Petco Park. Lowe hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Spencer Howard. He's now 1-4. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits for the Snakeyes. Their 47-57 record puts the Snakeyes last in the Federal Western Division.
Bobby Dalbec had a big 3-run home run for the Snakeyes in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Diego trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from Luis Severino, who finished 3rd in the FL in strikeouts with 243 in 2020, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Snakeyes on top, 3-1.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Oakland manager Heath Hunt. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
