Roses Beaten By Wildcats, 5-2
|
Baltimore turned a good effort from starter Zack Wheeler into a win over the Oakland Roses at Fan's Ballyard. The Wildcats won the game, 5-2. Wheeler yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 12-2. Baltimore has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
Nolan Jones had a big run-scoring triple for the Wildcats in the top of the third inning. With Baltimore leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a changeup from Spencer Strider and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wildcats ahead, 2-0.
"Zack gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Baltimore skipper Joe Bubanj.
