Roses Win at Home, 5-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Baltimore Wildcats and Oakland Roses get after it.
Steve Matz pitched a gem to lead Oakland to victory over the Baltimore Wildcats, 5-1. The winner was Matz. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Tanner Houck.
Jorge Polanco had a big 3-run home run for the Roses in the bottom of the first inning. With Oakland leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Roses on top, 4-0.
Polanco called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The win makes Oakland 44-62.
