Big Day for Cruz in 9-3 Dragons Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the San Francisco Dragons and Portland Jaguars.
The San Francisco Dragons downed the Portland Jaguars, 9-3. The hitting star was shortstop Oneil Cruz. Cruz went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Dragons. Austin Gomber got the win, improving to 4-4. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0.
With San Francisco leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Cruz hit a fastball from Tanner Gordon for a grand slam home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Dragons ahead, 5-0.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Cruz said. "That's why you play the game."
The Federal League Western Division-leading Dragons are 65-42.
