Bears Win, 6-2, Versus New York
|
The Denver Bears faced a tough opponent in New York pitcher Nestor Cortes, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Shark Stadium by a final score of 6-2. Cortes went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. The win belonged to Tim Hill in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Aroldis Chapman took the loss for New York. With the win over New York, the Bears improved to 56-51.
Denver needed the clutch hitting of Carlos Santana to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bears on top, 5-2. For the game, Santana had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
