Ironmen Lose to Bandits, 6-4
|
The Tampa Bay Bandits beat the Pittsburgh Ironmen, 6-4, at Tony Gwynn Memorial Field. Tampa Bay second baseman Brendan Donovan had the hot bat. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Matt Strahm was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 17 save opportunities. After today's action, Tampa Bay sits at 66-42, while Pittsburgh falls to 55-53.
Tampa Bay left fielder Andrew McCutchen contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 29th hit of the season and put the Bandits ahead, 6-3.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said McCutchen.
