Sting Win at Home, 6-2
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Texas Vipers and Seattle Sting get after it.
The Seattle Sting picked up a win at Boeing Field, taking down the Texas Vipers, 6-2. Starting pitcher Merrill Kelly was a big reason why. Kelly yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 9-6.
Pete Alonso, who is tied for 2nd in the UL in total bases with 254, chipped in a 3-run home run for Seattle in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
Alonso attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
The Sting have an impressive 72-37 record.
