|
The Phoenix Firebirds beat the New York Sharks, 4-1. Phoenix pitcher and Nokomis, Florida, native Reid Detmers led the way. With the win, Phoenix pushed its record to 65-44.
The Firebirds got a big at-bat from second baseman Zack Gelof. For the game, Gelof went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the second, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Phoenix a 1-0 lead.
Detmers told a Phoenix Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
