A good performance from center fielder Cristian Pache helped the Oakland Roses defeat the Portland Jaguars, 6-3. Pache was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Roses. Steve Matz was the winner. He's now 8-8. The loser was 37-year old right-handed pitcher Lance Lynn. Oakland is now 47-63, while Portland is 59-51.
Oakland used a clutch at-bat from Trevor Story to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Roses ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Pache.
