Phalanx Win at Georgia, 6-2
|
Philadelphia pitcher Kyle Brnovich had a large part in his team beating the Georgia Bulldogs, 6-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Brnovich, now 3-8, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Picking up the save was Kevin Ginkel. He's now 15 for 20 in save chances.
Mike Tauchman had a big 2-run double for the Phalanx in the top of the first inning. With Philadelphia leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski and swatted a double to center. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Phalanx ahead, 4-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Brnovich told a Philadelphia Observer reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
Philadelphia has now won 3 in a row.
