The Seattle Sting had to weather a strong performance from Houston pitcher Aaron Nola before claiming a 3-2 win in 14 innings. Nola went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner in relief was Keider Montero. He is now 4-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The first-place Sting, at 75-37, now lead their division by 14½ games.
The Sting got a clutch hit from first baseman Pete Alonso. In the bottom of the 14th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Sting.
Seattle manager Jesus Cardiel called it "a pretty good win."
