Denver Decked, 7-6, by Diamonds
|
The Anaheim Diamonds weathered a fine game by Denver first baseman Carlos Santana to upend the Bears, 7-6, at Coors Field. Santana was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Brennan Bernardino was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities. The Diamonds improved their record to 48-66 with the win over Denver.
Anaheim used a clutch at-bat from Matt Thaiss to capture the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Diamonds ahead, 7-5. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Thaiss, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
