New York Defeated By Riptides, 10-6
|
Wilyer Abreu powered the Carolina Riptides to a win over the New York Sharks. The final score was 10-6. The Carolina left fielder, who is rated as the 52nd best prospect by BNN, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Carolina reliever Matt Brash picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Luke Little absorbed the loss. The win elevated the Riptides to 65-49.
Brenton Doyle had a big 2-run home run for the Riptides in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Carolina trailing 6-5 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Luke Little and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Riptides on top, 7-6.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Abreu told the Carolina Herald.
