Sluggers Deal Firebirds 4-2 Loss
|
The Sluggers grabbed a win, 4-2, at Chase Field, overcoming a fine effort from Phoenix pitcher Reid Detmers. Detmers went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The first-place Sluggers have a one-game lead in their division.
St Louis took a 4-2 lead on Francisco Lindor's 24th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Lindor hit in the top of the 12th, left Phoenix pitcher Ty Madden visibly frustrated.
"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Sluggers manager John Hawkins.
