Oakland Absorbs 5-1 Loss to Boston
|
Max Fried, who is tied for 7th in the FL in innings pitched with 139.1, was locked in. The left-hander led the Boston Minutemen to a 5-1 win against the Oakland Roses at Fan's Ballyard. Boston is now 56-58, while Oakland is 58-56.
Boston first baseman Kris Bryant contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 78th hit of the season and put the Minutemen ahead, 2-0.
Said losing manager Herb Pilgrim: "Give the Minutemen credit. They played a better game than we did."
