Cincinnati Sent Home with 5-3 Loss
|
Dansby Swanson impressed in the 5-3 Phoenix win over Cincinnati. Swanson hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winning pitcher was 37-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Cobb. He tossed 91 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. D.L. Hall recorded the save, making him 3 for 3.
Swanson had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-0 slider from Keegan Akin, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Firebirds a 5-3 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Swanson.
"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Cincinnati manager Pat Padula.
Phoenix is now 68-47. Cincinnati is 53-62.
